Many of the records explained in this section are to be found at the Public Record Office in Kew, England.  Those people unable to visit the National Archives (PRO) in person may find that the records have been filmed and are available through the LDS Family History Centres throughout the world. Their catalogue is now also on-line, from which you may ascertain the precise document references you will need if you wish to order films through LDS Family History Centres.  Note that the PRO references are not LDS references! You will need to use the Family History Centre's own catalogue in order to obtain the correct LDS film reference.

A short cut to finding this section of the catalogue is: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp

Type Great Britain into the search box
Click on the link which will appear, taking you to the section of the catalogue for all British records.
In the box at the bottom of the page enter the number 260.
This will take you directly to the page listing the British Mercantile Marine records

The PRO records currently available are: BT 98, 112 to 116, 119, 120, 159, 160 but more may be added.
