The Park Steamship Company, Montreal was set up in 1942 as an arm of the
Canadian Government to administer the movement of war supplies and controlled
176 ships. These included 156 dry cargo ships and 20 tankers, all
built in Canada. During the war, four ships were lost to enemy action
and two to natural hazards. After the war, the fleet was disposed
of and had been completely sold by the end of 1947.
